Our Story

It began with a single decision that changed everything.

Our founder, Taresa, came across a story about a woman who was mailing boxes of sanitary pads to girls in remote areas of Thailand, places where access to period products was scarce, sometimes impossible. That moment opened her eyes to a reality she hadn't fully grasped: period care isn't a luxury. It's a necessity that all people who menstruate deserve and she was determined to make a difference.

As a long-time menstrual cup user herself, she saw the potential.

One period cup could last for years, reduce waste, save money, and give women the freedom to live without constant worry about their periods. So she set out to create it.

After a year of research, countless prototypes and refinements, Joie Period Cup was born — a product crafted not only to provide a sustainable solution, but a better period experience for women everywhere.

Each Joie Cup carrying bag is handmade from upcycled fabrics by women at Second Chance Bangkok in Klong Toei community, giving new life to preloved clothing while creating meaningful work and income for women.

Founder & Visionary

Taresa Bhongsatiern

"Our mission is to bring positive changes to the life of women and to help them take charge of their life through better period care and cycle wellness. I believe control starts at a personal level. When you're no longer held back by the insecurities of your body and the worries about your period, you will realize that your potential is simply limitless."

Taresa's journey with Joie is deeply personal. As someone who experienced firsthand the freedom that menstrual cups could provide, she wanted to share that liberation with others — especially those who need it most. Her commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and women's empowerment drives everything Joie creates.
